Insurance
To
reduce your costs and avoid causing you to pay for something you already
have, insurance is not included in our services or fees. Oftentimes
students are already covered under their own policies or their family
policy, or prefer either to choose their own coverage or get better
rates when they purchase insurance locally. We do recommend that you
have insurance coverage while you are in China as it is a good precaution
to take whenever you travel. We always advocate the "better safe
than sorry" motto. Don't forget to check your family's plan or
your current plan to see if you are already covered before you look
into purchasing other plans. A semester of comprehensive coverage
will cost from 120 to 150 US dollars and up, depending on how comprehensive
the insurance is. Some study abroad programmes that include travel
insurance might not purchase very comprehensive policies, which may
not adequately cover your costs and needs in case of emergency. Whether
you are going with another programme or using our services, we highly
recommend that you are absolutely clear of what kind of insurance
you are getting before you purchase a plan or agree to someone else
purchasing one for you.
For students studying in China for more than 6 months, you are
required to present a health check certificate from your doctor or
a hospital supported by blood results. This should be done in
your home country and brought to China (make sure it is in Chinese
or English). In most cases this health form is submitted with the
visa application. The physical examination form can be downloaded
from the internet. For information and forms on the physical examination
from the Chinese embassy in the United States, click
