Below you will find tables outlining several budget scenarios for different programmes at the Beijing Language and Culture University. These costs are not representative of our fees; they are an attempt to provide you with an accurate idea of how much it really costs to study in Beijing on these programmes at BLCU. We have done our best to compute actual costs as opposed to estimates wherever possible (i.e. tuition, application fee). The airport tax is a fee imposed by the Chinese government you will pay upon departure. We have included two totals: one without our Full Service fee of 600 US dollars included and one with the fee included. Of course, it is easy to substitute one of our other options if you like. We welcome you to compare what is included and how much you will save by coming to China with Access Mandarin instead of other package programmes. Variable Costs

The following costs will vary per person and also depend on which country you are coming from. Some approximate figures have been given in US Dollars. For information on how to find out specific costs for visas, international airfare and travel insurance please see the links at the bottom of this chart. Below estimates are based on students coming from the United States.

Visa	For programmes less than 6 months students are usually issued F visas for short term study. A single entry F is 30 US dollars and double entry is 60 US dollars. X visas are multiple entry and issued for students studying for more than 6 months. An X visa is usually 90 US dollars. If the visa application fee is done by mail then a handling fee usually applies (around 5 US dollars).
Roundtrip International Airfare	Round trip tickets cost around 700 US dollars from the West coast US and 800 dollars from the East coast US. However, tickets under 600 dollars are occasionally available from both coasts.
Travel Insurance	Full coverage plans for a full semester begin at about 150 US dollars. Check first to see if your family or school/work insurance covers your stay overseas. If you do purchase a plan make sure you are very clear about the terms and conditions.
Sightseeing	You will probably want to see at least the major sites in Beijing and we will have an itinerary to visit the main attractions if you wish to attend. The entrance tickets for these sightseeing venues are usually from 1 to 6 US dollars, with minor attractions sometimes even less. Very inexpensive.
Food	Food is very cheap in China if it is Chinese food. 6 US dollars per day should be enough for 3 good meals; if you are a light eater then budget 5 US dollars. These costs are for eating out at cafeterias and restaurants. If you plan to buy your own materials and cook then you can budget less. Chinese food is almost always less expensive and served in bigger portions than Western food. If you plan to eat a lot of Western food then budget a bit more than 6 dollars.
Various Entertainment	Depending on what you like to do, entertainment is generally very inexpensive in China. Here are some average costs for selected activities: Billiards--Pool and Snooker: About 1.5 US dollars per hour and free at some pubs. Internet: From 0.5 to 1.2 US dollars per hour--very cheap! Bowling: 3-4 US dollars per game. Basketball, Soccer: Free, just the cost of the ball. Badminton: Free, just the cost of the rackets and shuttlecock. Tennis: About 2.5 US dollars per hour for the court. Beer: On tap, just under 1 US dollar per glass.
