Accommodation
We arrange your accommodation in Beijing based on your request and we provide accommodation options to you AT COST. Whereas many other programmes see accommodation arrangment as another opportunity to make money by charging more on top of the actual housing price, we view it as our duty to our customers to offer the lowest prices possible. We do NOT mark up your accommodation prices. When you fill out your Access Mandarin application there will be a section to indicate your desired housing. Of course, we are always here to answer your questions about accommodation at any time. The links at the bottom of this page will lead you to university specific accommodation choices. Many students do decide to live in apartments, but this can sometimes be risky. Not all apartment complexes are approved for foreigners to live in, and while this is gradually changing, the line drawn here is still very grey. Usually one must make his or her own arrangements with individual landlords and it is not easy to find vacancies due to the disorganised nature of apartment complexes in China. We ONLY offer legally approved, safe housing choices to our customers. The only problem with dormitories is that due to the great influx of foreign students, most Chinese universities have stopped allowing advanced bookings of dormitory rooms. This means that we often have to wait until several weeks before the beginning of a programme before we are able to secure dormitory rooms for our customers, regardless of how far in advance we have their requests. That said, due to our good relationships with these universities, our students who desire on campus housing have a much better chance of getting their first requests than students who simply try to apply for housing on their own. We always do our best to provide students with their first choice of accommodation, at the same time reserving other similar options in case the first choice is not available. This is more of an issue at Beijing University where other accommodation other than dormitories is scarce. Every
time a new programme starts we see many students desperately looking
for a place to live because they came to Beijing on their own and
thought the university was arranging their housing, but when they
arrived all of the spaces had already been given away on a first come
first serve basis. There are usually far more students who wish to
live on campus than there dormitory housing vacancies. We are here
to make sure this does NOT happen to our students. Click on the following
links to view accommodation choices by university. If you have any
special requests, please don't hesitate to CONTACT
US.
